Burgundy Crocheted Statement Necklace with Neddle Lace Flowers

This elegant design jewelry necklace is handmade with burgundy crochet lace, pink crystals, burgundy seed beads and 100 % traditional Turkish needle lace flower (Oya). The closure is a copper lobster clasp. It has an extending chain with a spangled fringe on its end for allow you to customize the length.

For this necklace design I try to gather modern and history by using modern style seed bead and 100 % traditional Turkish needle lace flower (Oya). You can feel the journey of lace through the centuries in this unique design. Turkish lace (oya) is very important part of Anatolian history. Oya edging, which appears all over Anatolia in various forms and motifs, has different names and meanings. The history of the decorative edging known in Europe as ‘Turkish lace’ is thought to date back as far as the 8th century B.C. to the Phrygians of Anatolia. Some sources indicate that needlework spread from 12th century Anatolia to Greece and from there via Italy to Europe.
